What is a Mechanic wave?
A wave that passes through matter (medium).
What type of wave is an Electromagnetic wave?
Radiation.
What is a Transverse wave?
A wave where the matter moves perpendicular (90 degrees) to the wave direction.
In a wave, what is the Crest?
The top of the wave.
In a wave, what is the Trough?
The bottom of the wave.
What is Wavelength?
The distance between identical points on a wave.
What is Amplitude in relation to waves?
The height of the crest or the depth of the trough; it measures the distance moved from the rest position.
How is Frequency defined?
The number of wave cycles that pass per second, measured in Hertz (Hz).
What does a higher amplitude indicate?
It indicates more energy in the wave.
What are the types of Wave behaviors?
Reflection, transmission, absorption, refraction, and diffraction.
What is Reflection in wave behavior?
When a wave bounces off a surface.
What does Transmitted mean in wave behavior?
It means the wave is able to go through a medium.
What is Absorption in wave behavior?
When a light wave is absorbed by a substance.
What is Refraction in wave behavior?
The bending of waves as they pass through different mediums due to speed changes.
What is Diffraction in wave behavior?
The bending of waves around an opening or obstacle.
