a statistical approach to summarizing the results of many quantitative studies that address basically the same problem
review of related literature
the systematic identification, location, & analysis of documents containing info related to a research problem; also, the written component of a research plan or report that discusses the reviewed documents
primary source
firsthand info, such as testimony of an eyewitness, an original document, a relic, or a description of a study written by the person who conducted it
secondary source
secondhand info, such as brief description of a study written by someone other than the person who conducted it
