How to Perform a DME arc
Steps:
Intercept the arc: Fly to the arc at the published DME from the station.
Twist 10:
Turn your OBS (course selector) 10° ahead of the radial you will fly along the arc.
This sets you up to fly slightly ahead of the radial, helping maintain the arc.
Turn 10:
As the DME increases/decreases, turn 10° toward or away from the station every time you need to correct.
Small corrections keep you on the arc without overbanking.
Intercept final approach:
When you reach the end of the arc, turn to intercept the final approach course.
Tips:
Anticipate wind drift and correct early.
Small, timely heading changes are better than constant over-correcting.
