Graphic Design

Line

Shape
The two-dimensional external boundary of an object, which can be geometric or organic.
Form
A three-dimensional shape created with attributes like shadows, perspective, and depth.
Texture
The physical quality of a surface, referring to how an object looks or feels, adding depth and interest.
Balance
The creation of visual equilibrium by relating elements in terms of their visual weight.
Symmetrical Balance
Balancing elements in a composition so that both sides are equal or visually similar.
Asymmetrical Balance
Balancing elements in a composition where both sides contain different elements but similar visual weight.
Brand Identity
The visual representation of a brand, including the choice of color, typography, and logos.
Typography
The art of arranging text to make it readable and visually appealing, involving font styles and text structure.
Color Theory
Describes how different colors contribute to each other and how they mix into various color schemes.
Hue
Refers to pure, vibrant colors.
Saturation
The intensity of a color, ranging from black and white to vibrant color.
Value
The lightness or darkness of a color.
Vector Images
Images that do not lose quality when zoomed in, remaining sharp and clear.
Raster Images
Images that become pixelated when enlarged, such as JPEGs and PNGs.
Monochromatic Color Scheme
A color scheme using variations of one color by incorporating saturations and values.
Analogous Color Scheme
A color scheme that uses a group of three colors adjacent to each other on the color wheel.
Complementary Color Scheme
A color scheme consisting of colors that are directly opposite each other on the color wheel.
CMYK
A color profile used for print design, consisting of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black).
