Sertraline (Zoloft)
SSRI used for depression, anxiety, and anorexia nervosa, watch for seratonin syndrome, sexual dysfunction, and suicide risks.
Phenelzine (Nardil)
MAOI inhibitor used for depression, watch for hypertensive crisis and interactions with thyramine.
Duloxetine (Cymbalta)
SNRI used for depression and anxiety, watch for discontinuation syndrome and seratonin syndrome.
Bupropion (Wellbutrin)
Atypical antidepressant used for depression, ADHD, and smoking cessation, caution with seizure history.
Benzodiazepine
Used PRN for anxiety, addictive, for short term use.
Propranolol/Gabapentin
Beta Blockers/Anticonvulsants Used for longer term anxiety, neuropathy, and diabetic seizures.
Buspirone
Nonbarbiturate anxiolytics used for Anxiety.
Hydroxyzine
Antihistamines used for sedation.
Disulfiram
Alcohol deterrent Aversion Therapy.
Opioids (Heroin, Oxycodone, Fentanyl)
Pain relief, watch for abuse. Side effects include sedation, euphoria, watery eyes, and dilated pupils.
Naloxone
Opiate antagonist used for opioid overdose.
Methadone
Used for opioid withdrawal.
Lithium
Used for bipolar disorder, monitor for toxicity (0.6 to 1.2mEq/L). Watch for NSAIDs interactions, GI upset, hand tremor, and polyuria.
Lamotrigine
Anticonvulsant used for bipolar disorder, watch for Steven Johnson Syndrome.
Ariprazole/Paliperidone
Antipsychotics used for bipolar disorder.
Prazosin
Used for PTSD nightmares.
Donepezil
Used for cognitive decline, caution with pre-existing asthma due to bradycardia.
Clozapine
Used for psychosis, watch for Agranulocytosis.
Risperidone, Olanzapine, Quetiapine
Antipsychotics used for psychosis, watch for hypertension, somnolence, and weight gain. Give at night.
Methylphenidate
CNS Stimulant used for ADHD, give drug holidays, and monitor weight.
