Stanza

A group of rows in poem

Antecedent

Something coming before another thing literally or logically preceding it. 

Meter

Rhythmic structure in a poem going between multiple lines. 

Rhyme

Repetition of similar sounding words that span multiple lines.

Figurative meaning

A meaning that is different from what the sentence literally says.

Personification

Giving human like traits to things that are not living.

Allusion

A hidden meaning that is hinting at something that is well known

Syntax

Arrangement of words/phrases to make a well rounded sentence.

Omit

To leave something out.

Omniscient

Someone (usually a third person narrator) knowing everything.

Simile

A comparison of two things using the words like/as.

Metaphor

Saying one thing means another. The world is a stage. 

Alliteration

A repetition of a consonant in a series of repeating words.
