Seat A - DPO
Water supply and pumping
Seat B - Officer (OIC)
Water supply, on scene report, walk around. OIC should be carrying a tool such as a Halligan (most desired) and thermal imaging camera (TIC) at all times.
(Role can be taken by Senior FF+, sometimes released FF+)
Seat C - Firefighter
Nozzle FF. Fire attack, this FF’s primary role is to pull the appropriate attack line and operate the hoseline.
(If rookie, need seat 2 released ff; if released ff, need seat 3 released)
Seat D - Firefighter
(If present and IDLH capable): Back up nozzle FF. This FF’s primary role is to pull the drag section of the crosslay and ensure kinks are removed from attack line. The FF will then continue to feed hose and manage excess hose line for the nozzle FF.
(Can be anyone, as long as they’re capable of pulling the lines)
Seat E - Firefighter
(If present and IDLH capable) Assisting w/ Exterior Operations, setting up water supply and assisting the DPO, setting up ladders
Seat F - Firefighter
(If present and IDLH capable) Layout, exterior ops: This FF’s primary role will be to assist driver with hydrant layout operations. When this FF arrives to the fire scene, he/she will assist in getting the hoseline in service. He/she will then ensure ladders are thrown and utilities are secure. This FF should remain ready to pull a separate/additional line for fire attack or exposure protection.
