Linear function
A function that graphs to a straight line, generally expressed in the form y = ax + q.
Gradient
The slope of a line, represented by 'a' in the equation of a linear function.
Standard form of a linear function
The equation of the line written as y = ax + q.
x-intercept
The point where a line crosses the x-axis, found by making y = 0.
y-intercept
The point where a line crosses the y-axis, found by making x = 0.
Turning point
The vertex of a quadratic function, where the function changes direction.
M₁ x M₂ = -1
The condition for two lines to be perpendicular in terms of their slopes.
Domain
The set of all possible input values (x-values) for a function.
Range
The set of all possible output values (y-values) for a function.
Intercept form of a function
An equation expressed as y = (x - x₁)(x - x₂) where x₁ and x₂ are x-intercepts.
