Internet topology
The structure and layout of interconnected systems on the internet.
Autonomous System (AS)
A network or group of networks under the control of a single organization that presents a common routing policy to the Internet.
Peering agreement
An arrangement between two networks to exchange traffic directly without charging each other.
Content Distribution Network (CDN)
A system of distributed servers that deliver web content to users based on their geographic locations.
BGP (Border Gateway Protocol)
A standardized exterior gateway protocol used to exchange routing information between different autonomous systems.
Local Preference
A BGP attribute used to indicate preferred routes for traffic leaving an AS.
Multi-lateral peering
A peering arrangement where multiple networks connect to a single routing server to exchange routes.
MED (Multi-Exit Discriminator)
A BGP attribute that allows an AS to convey to its neighbors the preferred path into the AS.
IXP (Internet Exchange Point)
A physical infrastructure that allows different networks to connect and exchange traffic.
DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service)
A malicious attempt to disrupt the normal functioning of a targeted server, service, or network by overwhelming it with traffic.
