what is the other name for the Calvin cycle
light independent reaction
where does this reaction take place
stroma
explain the process of the Calvin cycle
CO2 and RuBP react together this reaction is catalysed by rubisco this forms a 6c intermediate which is so unstable instantly breaks into 2 x GP
Then ATP is broken down into ADP + Pi by hydrolysis this releases energy this energy is then used to oxidised NADPH so it looses a Hydrogen. This hydrogen is then picked up by 2xGP reducing it to TP
One carbon leaves the 2x TP per cycle. Theses carbons form useful organic substances
an ATP is hydrolysed to form ADP +Pi this energy is needed to regenerate RuBP from 2xTP( with a missing carbon)
How many ATP are used up and Brocken into ADP +Pi per CO2
3
How many NADP are produced
2
what is the enzyme catalyses the reaction between RuBP and CO2
rubisco
