How whitening works
Peroxide or other whitening material passes through the spaces in enamel and reaches dentin where it releases oxygen free radicals that oxidize the stains and lighten dentin color
Enamel composition
Almost entirely of mineral (97% by weight)
Carbide peroxide
Popular for home whitening
weaker oxidizing agent than hydrogen peroxide
10% carbamide = 3.5% hydrogen
