Flagellants
A religious group who whipped themselves, believing God was punishing their sins and that self-punishment would stop the Black Death.
Prejudice/Scapegoating
Unfair feelings of dislike for a person or group because of race, sex, religion, etc. or a policy or practice that denies equal rights and opportunities to a group.
Septicemic Plague
Blood poisoning caused by bacteria, resulting in a 100% death rate.
Biological Warfare
The use of harmful biological agents like bacteria or viruses to cause illness or death.
Miasma
Bad air or a noxious atmosphere, formerly thought to cause disease.
Pneumonic Plague
Fever, spitting blood, death within 3 days.
Bubonic Plague
Buboes ( swollen, tender, and painful lymph nodes), death within 5 days.
Clergy
Those serving God (Christian/Catholic) who have sworn an oath, considered God's representatives on Earth.
Renounce
To give up (something valued or pleasant).
Artifacts
Objects from the past, such as pottery or coins.
Documents
Written records or accounts, such as letters or diaries.
Primary Sources
Original materials from the time period being studied.
Secondary Sources
Accounts or interpretations created after the event being studied.
Point
The central argument or idea of a PEE paragraph.
Evidence
Support for your point (information).
Explain
To link the evidence to the point in a piece of writing.
Archers
The archers stood to the side or rear of the field with cross bows as their weapons.
Senlac Hill
Senlac Hill is the hill that Harald Godwinson fought with William the Conqueror/Normans.
Chain mail
Chain mail is a type of armor that the soldiers wore on the battle field.
Feigned retreat
Feigned retreat is a trick that the Normans did. What he did is he made the Normans retreat back acting like they are retreating back as if they lost. Then the Normans would turn around and use their weapons on the Saxons killing some until all the Saxons were dead and Normans would win.
Shield Wall
The Shield Wall is the Saxon defense/weapon.
