Selena Content Review in English by Chapter

Chapter 1

-Selena sings to her father and he realizes her potential

-He has an idea to start a band for the family

-His wife is worried about the idea

-He brings home instruments, Suzy the drums, A.B. the guitar

Chapter 2

-The family band is practicing and playing in many gigs but still not making a ton of money

-Selena is excited but her mom is worried all of the time isn't worth the money they are getting in return

-Abraham has another grand idea to make a restaurant where they can perform and Marcela can cook Mexican food

-Marcela is worried it will be to expensive and time consuming

-They open their restaurant and name it Papagayos

-Primo Lesdema a famous radio person comes and is impressed by their music so he invites Selena to his program

-The people who hear her are very interested and offer her money for concerts and such

-There is an economic recession they have no money and the restaurant goes under

-They go to live with Abraham's brother in El Campo Texas

-Even though this is a challenge Abraham knows music is the solution so he gives them a name Selena and Los Dinos

Chapter 3

-The family is still having money problems

-Abraham wants them to sing in spanish specifically in Tejana, but Selena doesn't speak Spanish

-Her dad picks a slow spanish song for her to sing

-There was no way to succeed in El Campo so they need to leave Marcela is worried because they still don't have money

-They still aren't making a lot of money because usually people listen to men singing Tejano music

-Selena gets a contract to make a disco tejana song so they make Oh Mama

-Johnny Canales hears and invites them to sing on television

-Selena was only 14 so they had to do a makeover to look super modern

Chapter 4

-Hard for Selena to speak to Canales in Spanish, but it didn't matter they spoke in English, Spanish, and Spanglish

-Lots of people loved Selena and thought she was very charismatic she was offered many contracts and concerts

-The only problem was it was affecting her school (she was in 8th grade)

-The family decides to home school them, Selena works on designing clothes, A.B. writes songs

-A.B. writes Dame Un Beso and then more songs to make the album Alpha

-As a result Selena is nominated and wins the category the best feminist vocals for Tejana Music at 15

-They get a lot more concerts and return to the Johnny Canales show

-No more economic problems for the family

-They buy and autobus and name it Big Bertha

-Realize nothing is impossible

Chapter 5

-The group is very successful but then a guitarist drops out

-They find a very good guitarist Chris Perez but Abraham doesnt approve because he is a heavy metal guitarist

-A.B. and Chris are friends and start writing songs together

-EMI gives Selena a contract for her own album so the group is renamed Selena

-They produce her own album Selena and it is popular in the US and Mexico

-Coco-Cola offers Selena the chance to do a Coco-Cola add

-A.B. and Chris write Cant beat the real thing for the commercial

-To celebrate they are all taking a trip to Acapulco Mexico

-Chris is afraid of turbulence so Selena holds his hand

-They spend a lot of time together but Chris has a girlfriend so he needs to distance himself

-Chris ends it with his girlfriend and him and Selena go to Pizza Hut and pronounce their love for one another

Chapter 6

-Selena and Chris continue their relationship in secret

-People in the group are starting to realize they are dating (but not Abraham)

-Chris is arrested for speeding along with drinking and driving

-Abraham and Selena are mad but happy Chris came clean so they forgive him

-Some member of the group destroy a hotel room Chris decided to leave but Abraham and Selena are mad because it affects the image

-Selena and Chris break up then get back together in secret

-Suzy tells Abraham they are dating

-He gets really mad and calls Chris a cancer

-They continue their relationship after he leaves the group

-Chris and Selena break up then reunite in a hotel and decide to get married in secret

-Reporters start to spill so they go and talk with the family

-Selena goes to talk to her dad he is mad but once she explains their love, he accepts Chris into the group

-They still keep the marriage a secret from the public

Chapter 7

-Jose Behar a music producer at EMI wanted to introduce Texan music to Mexico and liked Selena

-A tour is planned for Mexico, but Selena does not speak spanish

-Selena wants to sing and make an album in english but first she needs to get fans in Mexico

-Selena meets with reporters in Monterey, Mexico at a press conference

-They all she is a very nice and charismatic person

-Then she has a concert with a lot of fans

-The fans are very excited and push on the stage they are worried the stage will collapse so the tell Selena to leave

-The fans are mad that the leave and people are getting hurt

-Selena returns to the stage to calm the fans by singing

Chapter 8

-Chris and Selena announce their marriage by putting a painting of Selena on Chris guitar

-They move in a house near her parents and are happy to be secret free

-The amount of fans they have continues to grow

-Suzy was in charge of fan relations but did not have a lot of time

-Yolanda Saldivar comes to them with a fan relations plan and the family loves it

-Yolanda becomes like part of the family and a good friend of Selena

-Selena finally offered to make an album in english

Chapter 9

-Selena achieved her challenge of making an album in english so now she wanted a new challenge

-Her new challenge was opening a boutique

-A lot of fans admired what she wore but this was her chance to make her own line of clothing

-Martín Gomez is the perfect person for her salon and designing clothes similar to what she wears in concerts

-It is a different kind of salon because you can shop and get your hair done and get your nails done

-The boutique is becoming very popular, but they have no one to run it

-Yolanda becomes the manager

-Selena was nominated for a grammy in the Best Mexican-American Music Album and won

-The same year she made a new album Amor Prohibido

-Bidi Bidi Bom Bom made the Top 10 Latin Billboard

-Selena opened another salon in San Antonio

-The family opened Q studios a music studio

Chapter 10

-Selena decided to make a perfume that represented her personality so she got help from Leonard Wong

-They create her perfume Forever Selena

-Martin (the clothes designer) is suspicious of Yolanda and confronts Abraham

-He claims she is stealing products and it seems she is manipulating/controlling Selena

-Abraham is uncertain if they accusations are true and decides to discuss the matter with Selena

-Selena does not believe it

-The family is happy for a while and Q studios produces an english song Dreaming of You

-Then Abraham sees concrete evidence that Yolanda is robbing from the store by stealing product and money but also stealing from the fans

-They confront Yolanda and fire her and she denies it all even with the evidence

Chapter 11

-Selena calls Yolanda because she has documents she needs

-Selena decides to go to Yolanda's hotel the Days Inn to get the documents

-Yolanda said she was attacked in Mexico and convinces Selena to take her to the hospital

-Yolanda did not give her the right documents so she has to go back to the hotel

-Yolanda will not give her the documents and pulls out a revolver when Selena gets frustrated and shoots

-Selena is sent to the hospital and dies

Epilogue

-Yolanda feels remorseful

-She contemplates suicide

-The police arrest her

-Many fans and flowers come to say goodbye to Selena

-She is regarded highly in her death and put up there with many stars

-They named her the Queen of Tex Mex

-They make a Day of Selena in Texas

-Yolanda is sentenced for assasination

-EMI releases Selenas finally album completely in English Dreaming of You
