Macbeth

Brave Scottish general and Thane of Glamis; becomes Thane of Cawdor after defeating rebels; ambitious and tempted by the witches' prophecy to become king.

Lady Macbeth

Macbeth’s wife; manipulative and power-hungry; pushes Macbeth to murder Duncan after hearing the witches' prophecy.

King Duncan

Kind and noble King of Scotland; rewards Macbeth with the title Thane of Cawdor; announces Malcolm as heir (Prince of Cumberland).

Banquo

Macbeth’s friend and fellow general; hears the witches' prophecy that his descendants will be kings; skeptical of the witches.
