Angular Kinematics
The study of angular motion, focusing on how different parts of a body move through the same angle.
Absolute Angle
The angle of inclination of a body segment relative to a fixed reference in the environment.
Relative Angle
The angle between the longitudinal axes of two segments, often related to joint angles.
Degrees
A unit of measurement for angles; most commonly used, where 90° indicates perpendicular sides.
Radians
A unit of angular measure; the angle at the center of a circle that subtends an arc equal to the radius of the circle.
Joint Angle
An angle formed between two body segments at a joint.
Flexion
A movement that decreases the angle between two body parts, typically at a joint.
Extension
A movement that increases the angle between two body parts, typically at a joint.
Right-Hand Rule
A convention used to determine the direction of a positive angular motion vector.
Quadrants
Divisions of the Cartesian plane that determine the position of angles based on their x and y values.
Tanθ
A trigonometric function used to calculate the angle based on the ratio of the opposite side to the adjacent side in a right triangle.
Angular Motion
Movement of the entire body about an axis, with all points moving through the same angle.
General Motion
A combination of segmental rotation (angular motion) and linear motion (translation).
