What is Classical Realism?

Humans are naturally selfish and power-hungry, so countries compete for power.

The international system is anarchic (no global government), so states must compete for security and power.

Classical Realism → Competition comes from human nature (leaders are selfish). Neorealism → Competition happens because the system forces states to act this way (no world police).
