Squib
A person born into a wizarding family who has no magical ability, similar to a Muggle but from wizarding lineage.
Impenetrable
Impossible to pass through or enter; often used to describe magical defenses or barriers in the wizarding world. For example, 'The castle was surrounded by an impenetrable shield charm.'
Treacherous
Guilty of or involving betrayal or deception; also, (of ground, sea, etc.) presenting unforeseen or hidden dangers. For example, 'The path through the Forbidden Forest was treacherous.'
Perplexed
Completely baffled; very confused. For example, 'Harry was often left perplexed by Hermione's complex explanations.'
Ominous
Giving the worrying impression that something bad is going to happen; threateningly inauspicious. For example, 'An ominous silence fell over the Great Hall.'
Confound
To perplex or amaze; often used in a magical context to describe a spell that bewilders or defeats. For example, 'Hermione frequently used logic to confound Snape's riddles.'
Dilapidated
(Of a building or object) in a state of disrepair or ruin as a result of age or neglect. For example, 'The Shrieking Shack appeared dilapidated and abandoned.'
Inquisitive
Eager for knowledge or information; curious. For example, 'Hermione's inquisitive nature often led her to the restricted section of the library.'
Apparition
In the wizarding world, the act of a witch or wizard disappearing from one place and instantly reappearing in another. More broadly, a ghost or ghostlike image. For example, 'Dumbledore could Apparate silently, a feat few others could manage.'
