Lymph Node Biopsy
A procedure to obtain a sample of lymph node tissue for analysis.
Needle Biopsy
A minimally invasive procedure using a needle to remove tissue from a lymph node for diagnostic purposes.
Laparoscopic Lymph Node Biopsy
A surgical procedure using a scope to locate and remove lymph nodes under general anesthesia.
Open Lymph Node Biopsy
An invasive surgical procedure to remove part or all of a lymph node.
Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy
A technique that involves injecting a radioactive tracer or dye to identify and analyze the first lymph nodes that drain a tumor.
Allergy Skin Testing
A test performed by an immunologist to determine Type I Hypersensitivity by placing allergens under the skin.
Wheal
A raised, itchy area of skin that is a positive result in allergy skin testing.
Tissue Typing
A test to ensure the compatibility of donor organs with the recipient by identifying human leukocyte antigens (HLAs).
Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLAs)
Proteins on cells that are critical for the body’s immune response and organ transplant acceptance.
Splenectomy
Surgical removal of the spleen, which increases the risk of infection.
Tonsillectomy
Surgical removal of the tonsils, often performed to protect against infection or due to recurrent cases.
