Corneal abrasion

a scratch to the surface of the cornea of the eye, because you can't visualize the cornea of the eye with your naked eye, a fluorescein exam is needed to diagnose a corneal abrasion

How to indicate position of corneal abrasion after performing eye exam

Since the eye resembles the shape of a clock, the position of a corneal abrasion or any other finding in the fluorescein exam is indicated in relation to the clock hands. Example: 0.6 cm abrasion was noted at 3 o'clock position.

New cards

Proparacaine

eye anesthetic to numb eye during fluorescein exam

15
New cards

Fluorescein

range dye that comes in a strip and is used to stain the eye to assess for injuries in the eye that are not visible to the naked eye.
