A belief in the afterlife is not important in Christianity. Evaluate this statement. (12+3)
Some Christians may believe that life after death isn't important , since Christians should focus on making bonds with other humans on earth. 'Love thy neighbor' from the bible supports this, as Jesus is clearly saying that Christians should love one another before thinking about the prospect of heaven and hell. Some Christians also believe that God the spirit will be by them at all times and therefore wont necessarily worry about the afterlife.
On the other hand, other Christians would believe strongly in the Afterlife as it is the fundamental message of Christianity, and heaven is a Christians main aim to achieve. This is supported by the parable of the sheep and goat, as all of the sheep who have followed Jesus go to heaven. 'When I was hungry, you fed me' from the bible reiterates this since by doing good works Christians can go to heaven.
Also, Christians believe Hell to be an eternal place of separation from God therefore would be their last wish to end up in Hell.
In conclusion I believe that the afterlife is a fundamental belief for Christians since they follow Jesus in hopes of returning to him and God the father in Heaven.
