structural damage to cardiac structures

majority of BCI are in the

RA/RV since theyre the most anterior chambers

Blunt Cardiac Trauma Often present with

other sustained trauma to the system (usually thoracic injuries)

Blunt Cardiac Trauma symptoms

asymptomatic, Transient arrhythmias or deadly rupture of the cardiac wall

TTE / TEE detects

WMA, valvular dysfunction and pericardial effusion

Blunt Cardiac Trauma will have elevated

Cardiac enzymes and troponin T

Blunt Cardiac Trauma treatment

EKG monitoring or Sternotomy
