when placing an implant with a static guide, the sleeve is a constant diameter but our burs are different diameters- how do we account for this?
keys or you can make a series of guides
what is important to know about keys?
the outer diameter of the keys are the same, the inner diameter changes and accommodates different diameters of burs
how does a static guide work?
bur is guided by the keys, which sits inside the sleeve of the guide
the sleeve position in space was determined by the virtual implant placement in the CBCT scan
what prevents the bur from going too deeply with a static guide?
lip on the bur
*D2
distance from the top of the sleeve to the apex of the implant
for nobel biocare (whatever model we use), the equation is 9.2 + the length of the implant
t/f you should change D1 because you changed D2
false- D1 will change automatically based on D2
*which bur does not have a lip?
2.0 pilot drill
it also does not have a taper aka is parallel walled
t/f it’s 50/50 if guided placement is really better than free hand
false- partially or fully guided always beats free hand implant placement
