• FEV/FVC normal

Step 2: Mild Persistent

< 4 times (QD) but > 2 times a week

Step 2: Mild- nights w/ s/s

3-4/month

Step 2: Mild- FEV1 or PEF (% of predicted normal)

>80%

Step 2: Mild - Characteristics

• Exacerbations may affect activity

Step 3: Moderate

Daily symptoms

Step 3: Moderate - nights w/ s/s

> 5/month

Step 3: Moderate - FEV1 or PEF (% of predicted normal)

> 60% or < 80%

Step 3: Moderate - Characteristics

• Exacerbations affect activity

Step 4: Severe Persistent

Continuous with frequent exacerbations and limit quality of life

Step 4: Severe - Nights w/ s/s

Frequent

Step 4: Severe- FEV1 or PEF (% of predicted normal)

< 60%

Step 4: Severe - Characteristics

• Limited physical activity
