Set up apparatus as shown with the length of the string set at 1m (measured from the bottom of the cork to the middle of the weight
Step 2
Set the pendulum swinging non-elliptically through an arc of <5 degrees. Measure the time taken for 25 oscillations
Step 3
Hence calculate the periodic time which is the time for 1 oscillation
Step 4
Reduce length of pendulum by 10cm and repeat steps 1-3
Step 5
Repeat step 4 four more times
Step 6
Plot a graph of l Vs. T² and find it's slope
Step 7
Multiply the slope by 4π² to find the acceleration due to gravity
