Rational Numbers
Any number that can be written as a fraction.
Irrational Numbers
Not rational. Numbers that cannot be expressed as a fraction.
A relation
A set of ordered pairs.
What does a relation do?
A relation looks at the connection between the x-value and the y-value.
What are the 4 form that a relation can take?
Ordered pairs, mapping, graph, rule or equation.
Domain
Refers to the possible values on the horizontal axis (x-axis)
Range
Refers to the possible values on the vertical axis (y-axis)
Function
A special type of relation. Each x value can only generate one y value.
What is the verticle line test?
If you draw a verticle line and it cuts more than one place, it is not a function.
