What is net force? (Fnet)
The overall unbalanced force on an object. The leftovers.
Can an object be in equilibrium if only one force acts on it?
no – there must be at least one other force present to cancel it out
What is Newton’s first law?
If the net force on an object is zero, the object is in equilibrium and will maintain a constant velocity.
How do you find the horizontal net force?
Adding all rightward forces and subtracting all the leftward forces
How do you find the vertical net force?
Adding all upward forces and subtracting all downward forces.
How do you find the combined effect?
Use the pythagorean theorem. a2 + b2 = c2
Can objects in constant velocity have a net force?
No. 0 net = constant velocity.
Can an object be in equilibrium if only one force acts on it?
No because every action needs an equal opposite reaction.
