Steps in using a calorimeter

1. Measure the mass of the food sample

2. Add the sample to a mounted needle

3. Add 20 cm³ of water to a boiling tube

4. Measure initial temperature using a thermometer

5. Set food sample alight

6. Hold the burning sample under the boiling tube

7. Measure the final temperature

What is a calorimeter

A calorimeter is a device used to calculate/measure/ find out the amount of energy in a food sample

The bomb calorimeter as it has a stirrer to dissipate the heat uniformly throughout, and a lid to prevent heat energy from escaping
