Earth spins on an axis. Side facing Sun=day, side not facing sun=Night

Seasons

The axis is on a tilt. The hemisphere facing the sun is summer and the other is winter. less area, more sunlight=summer, more area, less sunlight=winter

Earth is in the moon's shadow. sun is blocked

Moon is in the earths shadow. Moon is blocked

Tides

Created by the moons gravitational pull on the Earths water

Force

A push, pull or twist can change an objects shape speed or direction

Contact force

occurs between objects in contact

occurs between objects not touching eachother

Weight

Force applied on an object by gravity (N)

Mass

The amount of matter in an object (grams, kilograms etc)

Balanced force

Force of equal size

Unbalanced forces

Forces of unequal size, can speed up slow down or change an objects direction.

Friction

A contact force that opposes the movement of an object. acts in the oppposite direction to the objects movement.

Effects of friction

It creates heat. It slow objects down

Gravity

A non contact force that acts between any pair of objects. The larger the object, the greater the gravitational pull, which is why we are pulled towards earth.
