Salts are ionic compounds

When acids and bases react, they form water and salt. Salts are ionic compounds. They are a lattice of +ve & -ve ions. In some salts, water molecules are in the lattice, these are called water of crystallisation. Salts containing water are hydrated, whilst the others are anhydrous.
