red tag
emergent or class I, have immediate threats to life
examples of red tag trauma
airway obstruction, shock, chest trauma, amputations, open fractures, 2nd degree burns to 15-40% of body, paradoxal chest movement
yellow tag
urgent or class II, can wait a short time but require treatment
example of yellow tag trauma
open fractures with distal pulse, facial injuries without airway management needed, eye injuries
green tag
non urgent or class III, walking wounded
examples of green tag trauma
closed fractures, sprains, strains, abrasions, contusions, minor burns
black tag
expectant or class IV, are expected to or are allowed to die
examples of black tag traumas
massive head trauma, extensive full thickness body burns, high cervical spinal cord injuries requiring mechanical ventilation, no palpable pulses, agonal respirations
red tag interventions
intubation, IV fluids, spinal immobilization for falls head and back injuries, neuro assessment, respiratory efforts
yellow tag interventions
need treatment in 30 min to 2 hours, reassess
