Large, angular face with prominent cheekbones. (Hyper-)platyrrhine funnel-shaped nose with an extremely depressed root. Lips thinner than in Sudanids, body hair stronger. Occiput flat. Prognathous with a receding chin.
Mountain Dama (Congolid)
(Bluish) black skin with kinky or peppercorn hair. Short to medium height, mesoskelic with an endomorph to mesomorph body. Dolicho- mesocephalic, orthocranic with coarse facial features, a platyrrhine nose with a depressed root. Often prognathous, body hair relatively strong.
West Bambutid (Bambutid)
Medium to dark, sometimes light (yellowish) brown skin with (reddish) brown-black peppercorn hair. (Very) short, (hyper-) macroskelic, mesomorph, occasionally hairy body. Rarely steatopygic. Meso- brachycephalic, orthocranic, rather small-headed. (Hyper-)platyrrhine. Compared to East Bambutids bodies are taller, faces longer, nasal roots higher, and prognathy stronger.

Dark, sometimes medium (reddish) brown skin. Brown-black, rarely blonde peppercorn hair. Very short (males 140-145 cm), (hyper-) macroskelic, mesomorph, infantile. Mesocephalic, orthocranic. Hyperplatyrrhine. Face round, prognathy weak, receding chin, upper lip convex, lips rather thin. Relatively hairy body. Weak steatopygia.
