Where is most of the Earth’s fresh water?

• 69% → frozen in the cryosphere

• 30% → groundwater

• 0.3% liquid freshwater on Earth’s surf in lakes, rivers

• 0.04% → stored as water vapour in atmosph

why is only a small amount of water on the planet used by humans?

Water must be physically + economically accessible for hum to be able to use it (eg. groundwater = hard to access, so may not be cost effec to extract

Is the global hydrological system a closed/open system?

closed → no inputs/outputs of water
