If you don’t understand the directions or part of the procedure, ask the instructor before proceeding

Students cannot work in the lab without an instructor present

Perform only experiments authorized by the instructor

Read all procedures thoroughly before entering the lab

Horseplay, practical jokes, and pranks are dangerous and prohibited.

Workplace should be kept tidy and clean at all times

Notify the instructor immediately of any unsafe conditions you observe

Dispose of all chemicals appropriately. Never mix chemicals in the sink drain. Sink is only for water and appropriate chemical disposal.

Wash hands with soap and water after all experiments

Students are not allowed in storage and preparation areas unless authorized by instructor

Tie long hair. Wear closed shoes. No dangling jewelry and loose or baggy clothes.

Report every accident and injury

Flush chemical spills for at least 20 minutes at eyewash station or safety shower. Notify instructor immediately.

All chemicals are considered dangerous

Never return unused chemicals to its original containers

Use rubber bulb or pipet pump. No mouth

Add acid to water. Stir and be careful of heat, especially sulfuric acid

Brush, dustpan, and designated glass disposal container for broken glass

Lube glass for stopper

Examine glass for chips, cracks; and dirt (dont use)

Immediately report damaged electrical equipment
