merengue music:

a lively and upbeat genre that originated in the dominican republic that has a fast paced tempo, lots of rhythm, and catchy melodies. associated with dancing and known as “party music”

bachata music:

a genre that originated in the dominican republic in the 1960’s. has a fusion of african and indigenous influences. blends with merengue and son cubano. known for romantic themes and slow rhythms.

hymn music:

often used in christian worship and characterized by its devotional nature. typically sung by a congregation and originates from a greek word for “song of praise”
