fungus, bacteria, fever of unknown origin (FUO)

light blue - test?

• PT/PTT/APTT/D-dimer/INR

navy/red - test?

• heavy metal / lead

red (glass/plastic) - test?

HCG levels, drugs

gold/SST - test?

HCG levels, lipids, cholesterol, BMP, CMP, progesterone

light green - test?

electrolytes, HCG levels

dark green - test?

• ammonia (ON ICE!)

lavender - test?

• CBC, sickle cell, ESR, H/H, Hgb-A1C

navy/lavender - test?

• heavy metals, lead

pink - test?

• RH factor, type/screen, cross match

grey - test?

• lactic acid, OGTT, alcohol / ETOH (ON ICE!!)

plasma vs. serum

• plasma - the liquid portion of UNCLOTTED blood and still contains the clotting factors

• serum - the liquid portion of blood that has been ALLOWED TO CLOT (coagulate); clotting factors are NO LONGER PRESENT, as they have been used up

7 tubes with anticoagulants/produces PLASMA when centrifuged?
