chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

irreversible, progressive, chronic obstruction of the airway. ex: emphysema and chronic bronchitis

small airways (bronchioles) walls lose elasticity at the junction with air sacs (areoles), making it hard to dilate and constrict to move air
