Agrarian
Society that is focused around farming activities.
Agriculture
Anything related to farming.
Alliances
Two or more nations joining together for some common purpose
Aristocracy
Rule by those that are rich, educated, and privileged.
Absolutism
Rule by one person. Synonymous with totalitarian.
Bias
To look at a subject in favor of something that benefits that individual. Often seen as being prejudiced. Synonymous with “point of view”.
Bureaucracy
A large group of people who work for the government, but are not elected.
Civilization
A society that has: advanced cities, advanced technology, specialized workers, complex institutions, and record keeping.
Constitution
A system of beliefs and laws by which a country, state, or organization is governed.
Commerce
Anything involving trade
Demographics
Any statistics or information related to population.
Diaspora
Scattering or spreading of something – usually related to a group of people
Dynasty
A family of leaders who rule an area or country for a long period of time
Economic
Anything related to money, goods, and services.
Empire
A large group of states or countries under the leadership of a single leader [an emperor or empress].
Epidemic
A widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in an area
Forager
One who wanders or searches for food.
Globalization
The process where views, products, ideas, and culture is spread over the entire world.
Hierarchy
A division of society into classes - the higher the class usually means more power
Ideology
A system of ideas that forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy.
Imperialism
The domination of another country politically, economically, and socially.
Indentured Servant
A person who worked under contract for a period of time, usually seven years, especially during the 17th to 19th centuries. Usually was used to pay for travel expenses from Europe to America.
Interregional
Anything connecting two or more regions.
Institution
An organization founded for a religious, educational, social, or similar purpose.
Kingdom
A large group of states or countries under the leadership of a single leader [a king or queen]
Matriarchy
A society ruled by women or mothers.
Merchant
A person or group that buys and sells or owns a business to make a profit.
Militarism
The building up and/or modernizing of military.
Monotheism
The belief in one god
Nation
A large group of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory.
Nationalism
Pride in your nation, country or ethnicity
Nobility
The group of people who are members of the highest social class in some countries, especially in Europe.
Nomad
A person or member of a society that moves from place to place.
Pandemic
An outbreak or a disease that affects a large number of people.
Papacy
The office of the Pope [the head of the Catholic church].
Patriarchy
A society that is ruled by men or fathers.
Political
Anything that is related to the government, the leaders, and the laws.
Polytheism
The belief in many gods.

A document from someone who actually was at an event.
Principle
A basic idea that serves as the foundation for a system of beliefs or behaviors for a group.
Republic
A state in which supreme power is held by the people [democracy] and their elected representatives, and which has an elected president rather than a monarch.
Revolution
A sudden, radical, or extreme change in something.
Rural
A country setting or anything relating to an area that is not in cities.

A document from someone who is reporting about an event they actually did not attend or about a person they did not actually interact with.
Sedentary
To stay in one place; usually refers to a group of people.
Serf
A person who works in agriculture and is under the power of the owner of that land.
Social
The interactions of individuals and the groups they live within.
Sovereignty
The idea that a state should be able to govern itself.
State
A nation or territory organized as a political community under one government.
Tariffs
a tax to be paid on a particular type of imports or exports.
Urban
A city setting or anything relating to a city.
Interdependent
When two groups [regions, states, countries, etc.] rely on each other for some reason
