Complementary RNA Strand
The RNA sequence derived from a DNA template, replacing thymine (T) with uracil (U).
mRNA (messenger RNA)
A type of RNA that conveys genetic information from DNA to the ribosome, where proteins are synthesized.
Amino Acid Sequence
The order of amino acids in a protein, determined by the sequence of nucleotides in the corresponding mRNA.
DNA
Deoxyribonucleic acid, the molecule that carries the genetic instructions for life.
Protein Synthesis
The cellular process in which proteins are synthesized from amino acids, guided by mRNA.
Codon
A sequence of three nucleotides in mRNA that codes for a specific amino acid.
Practice Problem
An exercise designed to apply concepts learned about DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis.
Finals Preparation
A strategy that includes reviewing notes, practice problems, and vocab to prepare for the final exam.
Vocab Packet
A collection of vocabulary terms and definitions relevant to the course material.
RNA Transcription
The process of copying a segment of DNA into RNA.
