what must happen to out of date stock
Legal requirements to witness the destruction of schedule CD
There are comercially availiable denaturing kits and these can be used to destroy out of date stock and returned CDs
Record must be kept of the date of destruction and quantity destroyed which the witness must sign
Expired stock should not be marked out of the running balance in the CDR until its destroyed
what must happen to residual or waste drugs
No legal requirement to have the disposal of waste product witnessed
Arent dneatured usint gits becauseit would be too costly due to daily waste -> need to be disposed of in a way they are non retrievable (eg. Into cat litter) -> then this sent as pharmaceutical waste through waste contractor
The mount adminitered and amoutn denatured should be recorded on the same line of the CDR to ensure that the running balance tallies
Good practice for the CDR to be double signed
