because louis sullivan omits no exception or whatever
verticals situation?
accentuated to make the building look taller
the plaque
contributes all the work to louis sullivan, doesnt mention dankmar, says he designs “spacious interiors“ (he doesnt), it says the building has load bearing masonry, a steel frame, the buildings of this time used a lot of concrete, and it says the wainwright building is the “pioneer of everything modern“

Richard nickel was especially fond of the work of adler and sullivan, and when he died he gave all his photos to chicago school of architecture
why was destroying the stock exchange gay?
the chicago city hall already rented out a bunch of its rooms for extra office space, so it wouldve made sense to buy it. also it was demolished surprisingly recently (1970s) but was never given landmark status, the building that replaced it that is super ugly (kendall) is getting landmark status. (thanks mayor richard daley)
what piece of the stock exchange has been preserved
the arch which is at some art museum in chicago, also a piece of the cornice which is in the yard of some prep school

what did Toyota tacoma building “accomplish”
people in chicago think its the first skeleton frame building
why does it get to be considered skeleton frame when some of its walls are load bearing masonry
The walls that count as skeleton frame are the ones that face the street. The parti walls are usually always just brick
is there any evidence that this was among the first skeleton frame buildings?
yes Fransisco mujica wrote the history of the skyscraper and he wrote that the home insurance building is the first skyscraper and the toyota tacoma building is the second
mayhaps what was a little structurally suspicious about this buildings structure
In 1929 when they demolished this building they found it was leaning. Mayhaps because it didn't have wind bracing
why is this building such a milestone for skyscrapers
this is the first building to be completely constructed by general contractors, the same ones that built the flat iron building in fact.

they started building the curtain walls at three seperate heights all at the same time, and the natives didnt understand how the brick wall was flying
