After WW2, the Soviet Union tried to take control of democratic West Berlin by blocking roads and supplies in the Berlin Blockade. The USA and Great Britain flew in supplies as part of the Berlin Airlift

Egyptian leader Nasser takes control of the important Suez Canal from France and Britain, and bans them from using it. When Britain attacks Egypt, the Soviet Union threatened to nuke them if they tried to take the canal back.

Communist North Vietnam fought against democratic South Vietnam, and the USA sent hundreds of thousands of soldiers to fight the communists

A standoff in 1962 when the Americans blockaded communist Cuba, and the Soviets almost started a nuclear war

The Americans put nuclear weapons in Turkey near the Soviet Union, so the Soviets put nukes in Cuba near the USA. The Americans then cut off all supplies to Cuba in a blockade

A law that banned Jehovah's Witnesses and Communists from meeting in Quebec. It was removed because it violated the constitution
