Angus
Comes from Angus and Aberdeenshire counties in NE scotland, solid black coat (occasional white on udder), hornless. Excellent mother. Excellent carcass marbling. Medium-large
Brahman
Large, droopy ears. Loose, pigmented skin. Coat varies from light grey to red, mature bulls are often darker on the neck. Originated from India.
Brangus
3/8 Brahman, 5/8 Angus. Bred for Brahman heat tolerance, bred for carcass marbling and maternal instincts from Angus. Solid black or red coat, hornless, humps occur in bulls. Medium-large frame.
Charolais
Originated in west-central to SE France. Coat is white to cream colored. Large framed. Known for cutability.
Chianina
Originated in the Chiana Valley in Tuscany, Italy. Porcelain white coat, black skin underneath. Tallest and heaviest breed of beef cattle.
Gelbvieh
Developed in Germany, originally considered a dual-purpose breed. Has good carcass cutability and relatively early puberty. Red-gold to russet or black coat. Medium-large
Hereford
Both hornless and horned. Originated in herefordshire. Red body with white face and underline. Medium-large
Limousin
Developed in France, moderate growth rate, large frame. Typically golden-red, but can be black. Lighter around eyes.

3/8 Brahman, 5/8 shorthorn. Red coat. Developed in Texas for heat tolerance and maternal instincts.
Shorthorn
Red, white, or Roan (mix of red and white) coat. Medium-large. English origin.
Simmental
Gold to red with white, solid black, or solid red. From Switzerland. Large-framed
Salers
One of the oldest and most genetically pure of all European breeds. originated in the Auvergne of South-Central France. Large, traditionally dark mahogany (black is also prevalent) coats.
Red Poll
Rich, deep red or reddish-brown coat. Medium. Originated in Eastern England around the early 19th century.
Red Angus
From Scotland, solid red coat, ranging from light to dark red. Medium sized.
Maine-Anjou
NW France, Large-framed. Coat is traditionally dark red with white on the head, belly, legs, and tail. But now it is often solid black or red.
Texas Longhorn
Originated in Texas, Survival of the Fittest breed, come in virtually all colors. Huge horns. Large-framed.
