Selection Tool
Use to click on clips, select them, and move them. Shortcut: V.
Track Selection Forward Tool
Selects the current track and all following tracks. Shortcut: A.
Ripple Edit Tool
Used for changing the start or end of a clip without affecting the timeline. Shortcut: B.
Razor Tool
Creates a cut to split a clip into two. Shortcut: C.
Slip Tool
Slips the source in and out points of a clip without moving it on the timeline. Shortcut: Y.
Pen Tool
Can create custom graphic shapes. Shortcut: P.
Rectangle Tool
Used for creating rectangles.
Hand Tool
Moves around the timeline (panning). Shortcut: H.
Type Tool
Creates text on video clips. Shortcut: T.
Ellipse Tool
Used to create ellipses and circles.
Polygon Tool
Adds shapes with more than 4 or fewer than 4 sides.
Vertical Type Tool
Creates text that is aligned vertically.
Zoom Tool
Zooms into the timeline. Shortcut: Z.
Rolling Edit Tool
Changes the transition point between two adjacent clips simultaneously.
Rate Stretch Tool
Speeds up or slows down a clip without changing its in and out points. Shortcut: R.
Remix Tool
Edits the duration of an audio clip without changing its tempo.
Track Selection Backward
Selects the track and previous tracks. Shortcut: Shift+A.
Slide Tool
Slides a clip around the timeline. Shortcut: U.
Tool Nesting
Tools are nested; click the arrow to reveal other related tools.
