Plastic Surgery
A surgical specialty concerned with the correction or restoration of form and function, involving a wide spectrum of systems and structures.
Reconstructive Surgery
A surgical specialty focused on restoring appearance or function to a particular body structure.
Dermatome
An instrument used to cut thin slices of skin for skin grafts.
Split-Thickness Skin Graft (STSG)
A skin graft that involves removing the epidermis and part of the dermis.
Full-Thickness Skin Graft (FTSG)
A skin graft composed of the epidermis and all of the dermis.
Mohs Surgery
A precise surgical technique used to remove skin cancer while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible.
Escharotomy
A surgical procedure performed to relieve pressure and improve circulation in patients with severe burns.
Skin Flap
Healthy skin and tissue that is partly detached and moved to cover a nearby wound, retaining its own blood supply.
Excisional Debridement
A surgical procedure involving the removal of dead or infected tissue from a wound.
Pressure Ulcers
Areas of skin damage caused by prolonged pressure or friction, also known as bedsores or pressure sores.
Autograft
A skin graft taken from the patient's own body.
Allograft
A skin graft taken from a donor of the same species (e.g., cadaver skin).
Xenograft (Heterograft)
A skin graft obtained from a dissimilar species.
Scar Revision
Surgically removing or reshaping scars to improve their appearance and/or function.
Rhytidectomy
A cosmetic surgery, also known as a facelift, to improve signs of aging in the face and neck.
Mentoplasty
A surgical procedure to reshape the chin, either by augmenting or reducing it.
Malar Augmentation
A cosmetic surgery procedure that enhances the appearance of the cheekbones and mid-face using implants.
Blepharoplasty
A type of surgery that removes excess skin, fat, or muscle from the eyelids.
Rhinoplasty
A surgical procedure that reshapes the nose, addressing both cosmetic and functional issues.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
A minimally invasive cosmetic procedure to lift the eyebrows and forehead, addressing sagging skin and wrinkles.
Cheiloplasty
Surgery of the lip, usually performed by a plastic surgeon or oral and maxillofacial surgeon, to repair cleft lips or correct lip deformities.
Palatoplasty

Ablation of Radial Thumb
Surgical removal of the less developed, typically radial, thumb in cases of thumb duplication.

A surgical procedure to remove thickened fascia tissue in the palm and fingers for Dupuytren's contracture.
Gynecomastia
A condition characterized by the enlargement of breast tissue in men and boys, often due to hormonal imbalances.
Mastopexy
A surgical procedure, also known as a breast lift, that reshapes the breasts to elevate and reposition them.
Augmentation Mammoplasty
A surgical procedure, also known as breast augmentation, that increases breast size, changes breast shape, or alters breast texture.
TRAM Flap
A surgical procedure for breast reconstruction using tissue (skin, fat, and muscle) from the lower abdomen.
Nipple Reconstruction
A surgical procedure that restores the appearance of the nipple and areola after a mastectomy or other breast surgery.
Suction Lipectomy
A surgical procedure, also known as liposuction, that removes excess fat from specific areas of the body using a suction-based technique.
Abdominoplasty
A surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightens abdominal muscles; also known as a tummy tuck.
