Molecular Polarity
The distribution of electric charge across a molecule, resulting in a positive and negative pole.
Lone Pairs
Pairs of valence electrons that are not shared with another atom, affecting molecular shape and polarity.
Central Atom
The atom in a molecule that is bonded to two or more other atoms and determines the molecular geometry.
Equal Dipoles
A condition where atoms bonded to a central atom have the same electronegativity, resulting in balanced charges.
Polar Molecule
A molecule with an uneven distribution of charge, resulting in a positive end and a negative end.
Nonpolar Molecule
A molecule with an even distribution of charge, resulting in no distinct positive or negative poles.
