Joseph McCarthy

• US senator from Wisconsin

• created McCarthyism

• made a list of 205 suspected State Dept. members he thought were communist

McCarthy’s hearings

• 36 days against army men in 1954 he thought were communist → televised

Rosenberg Spy Case

• Julius + Ethel Rosenberg

• gave atomic bomb info + plan to the Soviets

• tried for conspiracy to commit espionage

• executed in 1953
