IP Address
An identifier for a computer or device on a network used for communication.
Subnet Mask
Reveals how many bits in the IP address are used for the network by masking the network portion of the IP address.
Network Address
Part of an IP address that uniquely identifies a network.
Host Address
Part of an IP address assigned to a specific device within the network.
Subnetting
The process of dividing a larger network into smaller, manageable sub-networks.
CIDR
Classless Inter-Domain Routing; a method of allocating IP addresses and routing IP packets.
Class A
The class of a IP address based on the Default Subnet Mask 255.0.0.0
Class B
The class of an IP address based on the Default Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0
Class C
The class of an IP address with a Default Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0
