Interphase
Cell grows, number of organelles increase, DNA copied
Prophase
Nuclear membrane disappears, DNA condenses into duplicated chromosomes, centrioles produce spindle fibre that starts to attach onto the centromeres
Metaphase
Chromosomes align at the cell's equator and spindle fibers attach to their centromeres
Anaphase
Sister chromatids separate and are pulled to opposite poles of the cell by spindle fibers.
Telophase
the final stage of mitosis where chromosomes de-condense, the nuclear membrane re-forms around each set of chromosomes, and the cell prepares to divide.
Cytokinesis
Cytoplasm and organelles are divided, two separate cells form
Mitosis for plant cells
Cell plate made of vesicles spread in the centre between the nuclei and separates to become the cell wall
