Communication
The process of transmitting and receiving information.
Sender
The person who initiates the communication and has the information to transfer.
Receiver
The person who decodes the message in a communication process.
Message
The information transferred from the sender to the receiver.
Channel
The medium through which the message is transmitted.
Feedback
The response from the receiver back to the sender after decoding the message.
Intrapersonal Communication
Communication with oneself, involving internal thoughts and responses.
Interpersonal Communication
Transfer of information between two or more people.
Public Communication
Communication intended for a larger audience.
Effective Communication
Communication that achieves the desired goals and understanding.
Noun
A naming word that identifies places, persons, objects, or qualities.
Verb
A word that expresses action or state of being.
Adjective
A word used to describe or modify nouns or pronouns.
Adverb
A word that modifies verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
Pronoun
A word used in place of a noun, such as he, she, it, they.
Preposition
A word that shows the relationship between nouns and pronouns.
Conjunction
A word that connects clauses or sentences.
Clause
A group of words containing a subject and a predicate.
Phrase
A group of words that do not contain a finite verb.
Skimming
Reading rapidly to get the general idea of a text.
Scanning
Reading quickly to find specific information.
Note Taking
The act of recording information from a source.
Note Making
The process of creating one's own notes based on understanding.
