Later in the text mar moves to Austria and to escape the revolution and begins to experience a new form of class discrimination based on a cultural difference. In an argument with her boyfriend's mother, she accuses him of being accuses her of being a secret prostitute. In the quote, what do you think? You think I don't know anything about your secret prostitution?

The blunt accusatory phrasing and secret prostitution being placed in quotation marks, along with the repetition of the word think, signal paranoia a rumor caused by a cultural difference, likely due to fears and stereotypes. And it often it can imply a conjoined meaning of moral condemnation and class degradation, and it reduces her to a stereotype in which she's often exoticized and sexualized due to her identity.

This causes her to be oppressed under a social hierarchy, and this oppression from a cultural difference causes her to change herself in her identity to feel she belongs in this society. And this was seen to begin with when she first entered Austria

Persepolis's body of work, analysis of quote "to. Later in the text margane comes to the realization about her identity in this quote, I was a Westerner in Iran, an Iranian in the west. I had no identity I didn't even know any more why I was living. The parallel structure shows Mane's cultural dislocation, and we see this explored through the temporal shifts, i.e, the change intenses, as it shows on reflection, how changing locations alered her identity over time, which she comes to this realization. The class differences made our identity feel fragmented and broken. Furthermore, the simplicity of the language struct supposes development of the language other text, and this realization has left her without an identity, similar to when she was child, similar to when she was a child explaining the simplicity of the language.

Persepolis body of workth three perpolis utilizes an episodic structure to fit its graphic novel form. This involves jumping between themes and short chapters, which mirrors how memories may work, reinforcing margines fragmented identity, but it also creates the gaps between chapters for readers to fill in and this is symbolic for how class inequality acts in the background of Mar's personal experience, which she was likely ignorant to due to unaffecting her in Iran.

In the dimly lit, flooded kitchen, Ki-woo silently cradles the scholar’s rock, once a symbol of ambition and success. Bong’s use of low lighting and still framing heightens the irony — the rock now embodies the weight of internalized class fantasy. Ki-woo’s downward gaze and stillness reveal that his identity, once rooted in the illusion of mobility, has collapsed under the reality of economic devastation.

As the Kims flee down rain-soaked alleys, Bong’s fluid tracking shot and steep angles turn the city into a literal social hierarchy. Their frantic, wordless movement through the water reflects how poverty strips identity down to survival. Their descent is not just physical but symbolic — their roles, ambitions, and sense of self are drowned in the same storm that submerges their home.
